Review Process & Policy
Heritage: International Journal of Linguistics and Literature is a double-blind, peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by the Global Heritage Research Center for Languages and Literature. The review process is designed to enhance the quality of manuscripts through constructive editorial feedback. Reviewers who accept an invitation to evaluate a manuscript are expected to adhere to the highest ethical standards in conducting their reviews. The journal’s integrity, credibility, and reputation rely on a peer-review system built on trust and ethical responsibility.
Expectations from Reviewers:
- Notify the editor immediately if they lack the subject expertise necessary to review the manuscript effectively.
- Submit review reports promptly and inform the editor of any potential delays to ensure the review process remains timely.
- Treat the manuscript and its data as strictly confidential, refraining from using the information for personal, academic, or professional gain.
- Consider the manuscript a private document, avoiding any discussions about its content unless authorized by the editor for professional advice. Reviewers must not disclose details of the paper prior to publication without explicit editor approval.
- Disclose any conflicts of interest, whether personal, financial, intellectual, professional, political, or religious, and inform the editor if the manuscript overlaps with their own ongoing research.
- Acknowledge and address any personal biases that might influence their evaluation of the manuscript.
- Provide constructive criticism of the manuscript, avoiding personal remarks or unprofessional criticism of the authors. Maintain the highest academic and ethical standards in their feedback.
- Notify the editor if the manuscript appears to duplicate existing research, contains plagiarism, or raises concerns about the authenticity of results or ethical treatment of subjects, including any specific demographic groups.
- Use the review forms provided by the editor to submit their comments and evaluations.
- Recognize that while their feedback is highly valued, the final decision regarding publication rests solely with the editor, and reviewers are not entitled to challenge the editor’s decision in any forum.
The journal’s peer-review process is a cornerstone of its commitment to academic excellence, ensuring the publication of high-quality, ethical, and impactful research.
